Release Timeline

The changelog entry from the Solana Foundation dated Oct. 8, 2026 states that version 3 went live for general use that day. Developers must name the version explicitly when installing through npm at this stage. The package is expected to become the default install at a later point.

GitHub release notes for the v3.0.0 tag indicate a planned shift to the npm latest tag on Oct. 19, 2026. A follow-up release tagged v3.1.0 appeared on Oct. 15, 2026. Both dates are listed separately from the initial go-live date.

Wallet Support Additions

Version 3 introduces a Solana wallet-adapter package. This package includes support for Sign In With Solana along with standalone signing capabilities. The changes address common developer needs around wallet connections.

The internals now work directly with Solana Kit. A PublicKey object functions with clients generated by Codama under this setup.

Internal Improvements

The Oct. 8 notes list fixes across several areas. These cover transaction confirmation logic, durable nonces, websocket subscriptions and checks on RPC responses.

Connection Updates

The Oct. 15 release turns the Connection object into a Kit client. A Connection instance can now pass directly to Anchor program clients and to Codama-generated clients. No second RPC instance is required for these interactions.

Program-client helpers that rely on rent calculations can also accept the Connection directly. The Oct. 15 notes flag a planned deprecation of the durable nonce APIs in the documentation.

Developer Guidance

The changelog and release notes together provide the current path for adoption. Developers following the explicit version install today can expect the default tag change on the stated October date. The updates focus on compatibility and reliability for existing workflows.
